"My practice seeks to understand contemporary society through colorful, intuitive world building. The imagery in my work is grounded in childhood, distant memories, and forms of media such as comics and cartoons. While making these paintings, sculptures, and assemblages, everyday objects such as a basketball, a shoe, or a watch, become vessels for narrative. Finding myself drawn to the analogue, references to older technology, or the complete absence of it, maintains a timeless and simple world for figures to inhabit. These figures exist in speculative spaces reminiscent of a dream, blurring and questioning lines of consciousness.
My work engages with symbols of national and personal identity, examining their stability and meaning. The tension between playfulness and unease is central to my practice, often reimagining everyday experiences through a lens of joy and adversity."
